KA’A NDEH MU’NKA FESTIVAL

SOURCE BLESSINGS AND  DEVELOPMENT CATALYST FOR THE EMERGENCE OF BAMEKA

The Bameka people, here and elsewhere, can unanimously and proudly note today that no event has ever been as mobilizing for our community as the Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka Festival, of which preparations for the 2027 edition are already underway.

As its baptismal name suggests, the Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka is a platform that aims at bringing together Bameka sons and daughters around their Monarch and their culture.

In the Bameka language, "Ka'a" means "Gathering," "Ndeh" means "House," and "Mu'nka" means "Bameka." Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka literally means "gathering" of Bameka sons and daughters in the house.

This baptismal name given to our festival takes its origins from the foundation of the ancestral creation of Bameka, relating to the history of the founding fathers of the Bamendjou, Bansoa, Bamougoum, and Bameka Villages. The Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka therefore symbolizes the Mu'nka people's return to their family homes, for a moment of reflection, love, friendship, awareness, sharing, and celebration, so that all Bameka sons and daughters, regardless of political affiliation or religious persuasion, may all look in the same direction and receive their ancestral blessing.

Flashback to historical moments of Ka’a Ndeh Mu’nka

In 2011, under the leadership of the 19th Ruler of the Bameka People, His Royal Highness Jean Raymond TAKOUKAM, the Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka Festival was born.

However, it is difficult to talk about the Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka without revisiting its genesis, particularly in 2007 and 2009.

In 2007, one year after his accession to the throne, Natchema Feuh Mu'nka, with his clear vision for the leadership of the Bameka People, initiated the "Mu'nka Festi Foot."

This was an event that mobilized all the Bameka people around various sporting activities every year during the month of May.

In 2009, the Bameka King revived the "NDEK" age clan dance, which had been forgotten for more than two decades. The Bameka people regained their nobility through this beautiful celebration.

After these initial steps, the first edition of the Ka'a Ndeh M'unka Festival took place in 2011.

The elected President of the Organizing Technical Committee (CTO), Mr. Emmanuel TENE DJOUMESSI, unfortunately did not complete his term. Mr. Rene TCHENDJOU, of blessed memory, took over, and thus organized the Bameka Cultural Festival, which, after only a few editions, is the pride of the Bameka people.

For the second edition in 2013, Mr. René TCHENDJOU, President of the 2011 edition, was once again appointed Head of the Bameka Festival's Organizing Technical Committee, and it was a resounding success.

At the end of this edition, Bameka benefited from the construction of a grandstand at the Festival Ceremonial ground.

In 2015, Mr. Joseph Lavoisier MOUMBE replaced Mr. Tchendjoua t the head Organizing Technical Committee (CTO).

With his interpersonal skills and the support of several Bameka elites, the Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka Festival finally took off. Several achievements were made, to the great delight of Bameka and its people.

An interruption was observed in 2017 due to the Bameka King Bameka's tour of several Bameka communities in Cameroon and his visit to Europe.

The 4th edition of Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka took place in 2019.

Mr. MOUMBE Joseph Lavoisier once again held the prestigious responsibility of chairing the CTO.

It was once again a resounding success, crowned by the construction of a second grandstand on the Bameka Festival Square, and the completion of many other projects contributing to the development of Bameka.

By appointment of HRH Jean Raymond Takoukam and for the 5th edition of the Festival in 2023, I was the first woman to chair the Organizing Technical Committee of the Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka Festival. With the support of a strong team of CTO members and support staff, many innovations emerged.

This edition of the Festival was an unparalleled success in the West Region, and more specifically in the Upper-Plateau Division, and will henceforth be a benchmark.

Countless projects, such as the construction of the People's Boulevard in the Bameka Palace, were carried out for the development and promotion of Bameka.

Thanks to my dedication and dynamism, the King of Bameka renew his trust in me to lead the destiny of the 6th edition of Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka, scheduled for 2027.

My expectations as President of the Organizing Technical Committee for this edition, highly anticipated by the Bameka people, are as follows:

• Communion, cohesion, and harmony among the Bameka sons and daughters

• The active and committed involvement of every Bameka, both within and outside in the Diaspora, so that the records of previous mobilizations can be broken.

• The continued implementation of development projects in Bameka so that we can leave a worthy legacy for future generations.

We look forward to the 2027 edition of Ka'a Ndeh Mu'nka!
